A man is due in court this morning in connection with the discovery of a suspected cocaine processing laboratory in County Galway.

It comes after Gardaí seized over €178,000 in cash and cocaine worth around €50,000 following searches in the County on Sunday night.

In addition to the drugs, investigators found mixing agent, a cocaine press, industrial gas masks, a vacuum packer and a cash-counting machine.

The intelligence-led operation began with Gardaí stopping and searching a car on the M6 before carrying out further searches in Galway city.

One man in his 20s was arrested on the motorway while another man in his 30s was arrested at a property in Galway city.

This morning, Gardaí said a 27-year-old man is due before Derrynea District Court this morning.

A second man has been released without charge with a file being prepared for the DPP.
