Eoghan and Ruairi Chada have been laid to rest in Co. Carlow. The bodies of the 5 and 10-year-olds were discovered in their father Sanjeev's car in Co. Mayo on Monday.

There were highly emotional scenes in the village of Ballinkillen near Bagenalstown today.

Hundreds of people joined their mother Kathleen for the young brothers' requiem mass this afternoon.

The boys' school friends and team mates formed guards of honour outside St. Lazarian's Church for the arrival of the small white coffins. Two hearses carrying the coffins arrived at the church at 1pm from their nearby home.

Their father Sanjeev Chada has been remanded in custody charged with their murder.

Family members could be heard singing 'Twinkle Twinkle' Little Star' as they walked behind the hearses.

12 balloons were released as Eoghan and Ruairi were being laid to rest in the local graveyard.

Ballinkillen parish priest Fr. Declan Foley was the Chief Celebrant at today's mass.
