A man attempted to flee Limerick District Court this morning, seconds after he was charged with murder.

20-year-old Dylan Hayes, of Kilteragh, Dooradoyle, made a bolt from the holding area in the court and lashed out at gardaí.

Mr Hayes was charged with murdering 31-year-old Shane Murphy, in Pallasgreen, Co Limerick, on April 30 last, in what was described as a "frenzied" knife attack.
