A man arrested in connection with a major drugs seizure in Dublin over the weekend has been released on bail.

Darren Raymond of Lough Conn Terrace in Ballyfermot was arrested after gardaí broke up what they described as a "drugs factory" at his home.

Huge quantities of cocaine and cannabis were found when gardaí from the Drug Unit based in Tallaght raided Mr Raymond's home on Friday.

More drugs were found during a follow up search at the TNT Depot in Tallaght the following day. The drugs are still being analysed but gardaí estimate they have a street value of over €500,000.

Two cocaine presses and mixing agents were also found in what was described by officers as a "drugs factory".

Mr Raymond (44), a father of one, appeared in court yesterday charged with several drug dealing offences in relation to the seizures. The court heard the offences carry a maximum sentence of life behind bars on conviction.

The accused has since handed over €5,000 to secure bail on condition that he stays at his father's home in Tallaght, and surrenders his passport.

He appeared in court again this morning and is due back in October to learn how the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) wishes to deal with his case.
