A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a filling station in county Kildare last Thursday evening.

Shortly before 7pm on July 28th a lone raider entered a filling station on the Carlow Road in Athy.

A man threatened a female staff member with a handgun and demanded cash, before leaving on foot with a sum of money.

Gardaí investigating the robbery have arrested a man this morning.

He is currently being detained at Newbridge Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
