A man has been arrested after a taxi driver was threatened with a knife and robbed in Dublin city.

Shortly before midnight last night, the assailant threatened the male driver on Rialto Street and demanded cash and a phone.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the man left the scene.

In a follow-up operation, gardaí from the Kilmainham District Drug unit arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the investigation. They also recovered all property.

The man is being detained at Kevin Street Garda station, under provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
