A man is due before the Special Criminal Court this afternoon in connection with dissident republican activity.

The 54-year-old was arrested yesterday as part of an on-going operation targeting the Dublin and Midlands region.

He is due before the Special Criminal Court at 3pm this afternoon.

He was held overnight under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Portlaoise Garda Station.
