A man in his early 20s has been arrested after a gun and ammunition were seized in Clondalkin yesterday.

Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the Neilstown Road at around 7.20pm last night.

During the search of a backpack, a Glock pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition were seized.

Those items have been sent to the Garda Ballistics Unit for analysis.

A man was arrested and is currently being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939/1998.

Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
