A man has been charged with dangerous driving after a car was stopped and searched in Finglas, north Dublin on Monday.

20-year-old Shane Daly of Hazlecroft Park in Finglas appeared before Blanchardstown District Court on Tuesday morning.

The court heard he was arrested last evening after failing to stop for Gardaí and abandoning the vehicle.

Gardaí were on patrol in the Finglas area at around 7.30pm on Monday when they attempted to stop a suspicious car.

The driver failed to stop and the car was followed by Gardaí to Kippure Park, where it was abandoned.

The people in the car fled from the scene and were pursued on foot. One of the occupants of the car, a man in his 20s, was caught.

Mr Daly was remanded on bail until July 2nd.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to further offences.

Gardaí carrying out a search of an abandoned vehicle in the Kippure Estate discovered a 14-year-old boy in the boot.

He is believed to be physically unharmed.
