A man in his 20s has been arrested after a fatal collision in Galway on Wednesday night.
Cyclist John White (68) of St. Laurence's Field in Loughrea, Galway, died shortly after the collision on the Gort Road in Loughrea. It happened at around 08.30pm. Mr. White was pronounced dead at University College Hospital in Galway.
The man arrested is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Loughrea garda station. He can be detained for up to 24 hours.
