A 62-year-old man has appeared in court in Co Cork charged with a knife attack on his partner in Cobh earlier this week.

Patrick O'Rourke, with an address at Cooline Drive, Ballyvaloon in Cobh, was remanded in custody with consent to bail.

The court heard his partner was left in a serious conditions after suffering 14 separate knife wounds at an attack at her home on Tuesday.

O'Rourke, a taxi driver, made no reply when the charge was put to him.

He will appear in court again on August 20th.
