Two people have been arrested in relation to a serious assault on a 40-year-old man in Leitrim earlier this month.
The victim was left in critical condition after being attacked in the early hours of July 17th in Carrick-on-Shannon.
He had been in an altercation on a footpath along Main Street with a group of people, both male and female, when it continued onto the road.
Gardaí arrived at the scene just before 4am to find him lying on the street in an unresponsive state.
Officers investigating the assault arrested a man and woman, both in their 20s, in the Leitrim area this morning.
They are currently being detained under the provision of section four of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
