Lawyers for a man accused of murdering another man in Dublin's north inner city are preparing to ask the High Court for him to be released on bail.
David Sheridan (45) died in hospital after being stabbed repeatedly outside a chipper just over a week ago.
He had been stabbed in the stomach, chest and back at around 10:45pm the previous night.
It is believed Mr Sheridan was involved in some sort of a row inside a chip shop near the Five Lamps on North Strand Road a short time beforehand.
Donal Colgan (63) was arrested on Tuesday and was brought to court the following day charged with Mr Sheridan's murder.
There was no mention of bail during his brief court appearance. That can only be considered by a High Court judge in the case of a murder charge.
Since then, his lawyers have applied for such a bail hearing and Colgan, - of Killarney Court, Killarney Street, Dublin 1 - is due to have his case heard later today.
