The High Court is due to decide whether a man accused of almost hacking another man's arm off with a slash hook should be given bail.
Simon Quilligan, of no fixed abode, is awaiting trial for allegedly taking part in a violent brawl at the Smithfield horse fair three years ago.
Thousands of visitors to the world renowned horse fair fled in terror after shots were fired on March 6th in 2011.
The gunfire caused horses to rear up and bolt and fights broke out between two traveller family factions.
Three men were hospitalised - two of whom had been shot by a teenager armed with a homemade gun.
Last month, Mr Quilligan was brought back from the UK and charged for his alleged part in the brawl.
He is due to stand trial accused of almost severing one man's arm with a slash hook, and causing serious head injuries to another.
The father of two was previously refused bail - but his lawyers have applied to the High Court to overturn that decision and his appeal is due to be heard today.
