A man (21) has died in a crash in Co. Limerick overnight.

It happened when the car he was driving left the road a struck a tree on the N21, south of Adare village, at about 4 O'clock this morning.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remains closed for a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
