Global workplace solutions provider Lyreco has announced this week that it is expanding its Irish operation with the opening of a new facility in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin and an investment of €34 million over the coming years.

As the European leader and third largest distributor of workplace products and solutions in the world, Lyreco has been supporting businesses in Ireland since 1970. After more than 50 years, it now boasts the largest field-based sales force in the industry and its new premises will be the largest of its kind in Ireland, creating an additional 50 jobs.

The new facility will include innovative vertical storage technology and 50 per cent additional capacity on site as the business seeks to expand and increase Lyreco’s partnerships with Irish producers.

Speaking to Newstalk.com, Michael Milward, Managing Director of Lyreco UK and Ireland said:

"We have come a long way over the past 50 years, and we are excited to continue our journey, delivering a great working day to businesses across the region. By investing some €34 million, we are pledging our future to Ireland showing the depth of our ambition in this market. 

Expanding our business with our new facility will create more than 50 new jobs, while significantly expanding our range of partnerships with Irish producers. This will create added value and employment in the indigenous workplace solutions market, underscoring our contribution to the local economy.

Lyreco's current premises in Ireland has an impressive 98 per cent zero waste to landfill ratio already, with the organisation pledging to reach zero waste status by 2025. This is being achieved by sticking to a set of strict environmental and social targets.

Lyreco's goal is to achieve a circular economy globally, with products and solutions being upcycled, re-used, and producing no waste.

Doubling down

Last year, Lyreco delivered more than two million orders to over 45,000 customers at 226,000 addresses. With the expansion of the company’s Irish operation, it is expected to double its sales turnover in the next two to three years, further embedding Lyreco’s commitment to the Irish market.
