Lucinda Creighton says the newly formed Social Democrats party is being 'dishonest' about water charges.

The Social Democrats listed the abolition of water charges among their policies at the party's launch this week.

However, Deputy Creighton says that this is an unrealistic and populist view.

The Social Democrats leadership is made up of three former independent TDs - Catherine Murphy, Stephen Donnelly, and Roisin Shorthall.

Speaking to the Sunday Show here on Newstalk, leader of Renua, Lucinda Creighton, says the Social Democrats have jumped on the 'anti-water charge bandwagon':

Figures showing that just 46% of Irish Water bills have been paid so far have raised questions about the utility.

Minister Alan Kelly insisted, repeatedly, on The Pat Kenny Show earlier this week that he is “hugely satisfied with this figure.”

Micheál Martin of Fianna Fáil says the Government has now landed itself in a "moment of high farce".
