Fianna Fail is distancing itself from an incident at a community meeting in Tallaght last week that saw a list being circulated with the names and addresses of a number of children accused of being involved in anti social behaviour.

Around 60 people attended the meeting at the Fettercairn Community Centre to discuss criminal activity.

Before the meeting an individual left leaflets, with the names and addresses of 15 males in the area allegedly involved in anti-social behaviour in the hall, for attendees to read.

"I’m told that somebody entered the hall and placed on each chair a list of names of people who are involved in anti-social behaviour,” Niall Collins, Fianna Fail Justice Spokesperson, said.

The parents of those named on the list now say they fear they will be targeted by vigilantes.

“Before any members of the public arrive ... and before I arrived ... The manager of the community centre removed all the paperwork that was left on chairs,” Mr Collins said. However, he admitted that the list may have been seen by others, and possibly distributed outside the hall. “I can’t be sure who saw it,” he said.

“From the point of view of the meeting which was held in Tallaght, that wasn’t discussed on the night at all and it didn’t encompass any part of the Fianna Fail public meeting,” Mr Collins added.
