Gardaí are searching for an on-the-run sex offender who may be in Co Limerick.
19-year-old Pakistani national Mian Mujahid Ali Shahid, commonly known as Mian Shahid, travelled here from Scotland earlier this year.
In his absence, he was convicted at Stafford Crown Court on April 13th of two counts of sexual assault against an 18-year-old woman.
A warrant was issued for his arrest the following day.
And on May 20th, he was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment also in absentia.
Gardaí have recieved a European arrest warrant, and believe the man is still in Ireland.
He was last seen in the Foynes area of Limerick on August 11th.
Gardaí are liaising closely with Police Scotland and the Staffordshire Police.
They are making the following appeal:
- Mian Shahid to contact gardaí as he is subject to the reporting provisions of the Sex Offenders Act 2001 in Ireland
- Driver of a car in which Mian Shahid was observed as a passenger travelling in the Foynes areas to contact gardaí
- Anyone with information about the movement of Mian Shahid in Ireland and in particular his current whereabouts to contact gardaí
