Nearly a quarter of all fatal road traffic accidents this year have happened on a Friday.
That's according to Assistant Garda Commissioner Gerard Phillips, who is appealing to all road users to take care on the road, and to turn "Fatal Friday" into "Safe Friday."
The time of day between 2pm and 6pm on a Friday has proven to be the most dangerous on the roads.
Provisional Garda figures also show that 8 of the 91 people who lost their lives on the roads were not wearing a seat belt.
Gardaí are stressing that they would like the public to work with them, but also that enforcement of the rules of the road is on the increase.
