A violent inmate, who was recaptured weeks after escaping from a prison van last year, is to serve an extra two years in jail for an armed robbery in Dublin.
Lee McDonnell of Lough Conn Road, Ballyfermot has been given a six year sentence with one year suspended by the Court of Appeal.
He escaped from a prison van last December, when officers stopped to get him food on their way back from a hospital visit.
Several weeks later he was recaptured in Dublin and returned to the Midlands Prison.
He has over 100 convictions to his name - including a violent robbery at a filling station in Ballyfermot in 2012, where he pistol whipped a shop attendant with the butt of a replica handgun.
He pleaded guilty and was given a six year sentence with the final three years suspended.
But on appeal the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) argued the sentence was unduly lenient.
The Court, making particular reference to the firearm and the gratuitous violence, agreed and imposed a new sentence that will see McDonnell serve an extra two years in jail.
