Two men are due in court in Britain later accused of murdering a man with learning difficulties.

The body of Lee Irving (24), who was described by police as "vulnerable", was found on a grassed area in the Fawdon area of Newcastle on Saturday morning.

He was declared dead at the scene by emergency services and a police inquiry was launched after a post-mortem examination.

James Wheatley (28) of Studdon Walk, Newcastle, and Barry Imray (31), of no fixed abode, will appear before magistrates in North Tyneside.

Wheatley has been charged with murder and Imray with murder and perverting the course of justice.

Two other men, aged 50 and 23, and two women, aged 50 and 20, have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Mr Irving, from Camperdown, East Denton, was described by his family as a "wonderful young man" who was "loved by many".

"He will be very sadly missed by all who knew him," they said in a statement.

"What we have lost is irreplaceable and we must live with our loss every day. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us at this devastating time."

"Lee will always remain in our hearts and thoughts."

His mother Bev wrote on Facebook that her son "had the mind of an eight-year-old".
