A Labour candidate abused on the campaign trail has won a seat in the local elections.
Martina Genockey has today been confirmed for South Dublin County Council, representing Tallaght South, Dublin.
Cllr. Genockey, who is from Tallaght, slammed the treatment she received by some people in her neighbourhood during the run-up to the election.

Last month, Ms. Genockey said she had been left shaken after a difficult time on the canvas.
One of her campaign team filmed an encounter with a group of constituents who were unhappy with Labour's performance in government, that later went viral.
One of the people involved in that confrontation later apologised for the incident.
Cllr. Genockey's election is not representative of the picture nationwide, after Labour was given a drubbing in the local elections. The junior coalition partner faces a wipe-out in some local authorities, including Cork City.
