The government has announced another new deadline for registering with Irish Water.

Environment minister Alan Kelly says households will have to register by June 30, or else they won't get the €100 water conservation grant.

The Minister made the announcement in the Dáil tonight

“I can confirm this evening that the 30th of June 2015 will be the deadline to register for Irish Water in order to be eligible for receipt of the water conservation grant this year.

"If a household has not registered by this date it will not be able to receive this €100 grant from the Department of Social Protection from September 2015," he added.

However, he has again refused to say whether households who refuse to pay their bills could be brought to court to have the bills deducted from unpaid wages.

Earlier today, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said there was no decision yet on whether people could be brought to court for not paying water bills.
