Every Friday sees the new album and single releases hit online and the stores, and here's our picks of the five songs you should be listening to this weekend.
Justin Timberlake - "Can't Stop The Feeling"
Nearly three years since we've had any new music from JT, and he's returned with this track from the OST to upcoming Trolls movie, in which he will be voicing one of the characters. Some of his co-stars (Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani, James Corden) pop up in the music video, but maybe the most interesting thing about this song is that it's produced by Max Martin - the guy who was behind Britney's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and "Hold It Against Me" amongst many others. The music world has come full circle, people!
De La Soul - "Trainwreck"
Having put together a kickstarter campaign to get the $110,000 needed for the new album, and their fans got the money together in less than ten hours. And The Anonymous Nobody was due to drop last week, but instead has been pushed back to next August. Instead, they've released a 4-track EP, with "Trainwreck"'s quirky, off-centre delivery reminding us why we loved these guys in the first place.
Radiohead - "Burn The Witch"
In the few days since the song has been released, Radiohead have replaced Beyonce as the most "long-read" article based musicians in the world. Both the lyrics and the video feed into an expansive but boundlessly creepy song about either anti-authority, fighting against mass surveillance, a stance against the idea of groupthink... or none/all of the above. Maybe it doesn't matter when they've just released, arguably, their best song since Kid A.
Dua Lipa - "Hotter Than Hell"
Every week, we try to introduce you to a new artist that you've never heard of before, in the hopes that you'll join the bandwagon before it gets too full. Long-listed on BBC's Sound... Of 2016, Dua has released three singles already - "New Love", "Be The One", "Last Dance" - but this is the one that should shoot her into the stratosphere of success.
Alicia Keys - "In Common"
Biographical singles seem to be getting more and more common right now (thanks Beyonce!), and Keys spills her heart out on her latest track, which is clearly got a lot to do with her husband, super-producer Swizz Beatz. Keys, however, has worked with Illangelo on "In Common", who was the man behind most of The Weeknd's hugely successful Beauty Behind The Madness album. Here's hoping he can work a similar kind of magic on Alicia's upcoming LP.
