The jurors in the Ana Kriegel trial will resume their deliberations tomorrow having being sent home for the evening.

They’ve been asked to consider whether two teenage boys murdered the Kildare schoolgirl in Dublin on May 14th last year.

Aside from the murder charges, the jurors will also have to decide whether one of them is guilty of an aggravated sexual assault.

The boys deny the charges.

It is the prosecution’s case that Boy A violently sexually assaulted and murdered Ana after Boy B lured her from her home in Leixlip and handed her over to his co-accused at an abandoned house in Lucan 3km away, knowing what was to happen to her.

She was found three days later with blue Tescon tape wrapped around her neck.

The jurors began their deliberations yesterday afternoon and asked for a number of items to be brought to the jury room today - including the tape, a pair of gloves, a long stick and CCTV footage harvested as part of the investigation.

They were sent home after deliberating for a total of just over four and a half hours.

They’ll resume their deliberations tomorrow morning.
