Renua have lost another candidate today as Jonathan Irwin, CEO of the Jack and Jill Foundation, announced he will not run for the election with the party.
The founder of the Jack and Jill Foundation announced last year that he would contest the next general election in 2016.
Mr Irwin - who is 73 and is married to the Independent Senator Mary Ann O'Brien - stated he would stand in the Kildare South constituency.
However, speaking to Newstalk Lunchtime today, Mr Irwin announced that he wouldn't be running for the party due to health reasons.
"It's not really a change of mind because I'd be right there with Renua but it's my doctors.
"I had a very successful cancer operation about three years ago but strangely enough my immune system reacted incorrectly to it and close down and paralysed the whole of my right leg. I had been hopeful... that it would come right eventually.
"It comes with a fair amount of pain."
He went on to declare that he would continue to support Renua and that he didn't think the wheels were coming off for the party in general.
This is the second candidate who has announced they won't run. James Charity announced that he was leaving the party just last week.
