Veteran newsreader and journalist Sir Alastair Burnet has died at the age of 84.

The presenter was known for his years fronting ITV’s News At Ten.

He died following a series of strokes.

Broadcaster Andrew Neil has called him “one of the greatest journalists of his generation”.
