Independent TD for South Tipperary Mattie McGrath had some wise words earlier this afternoon for Fianna Fáil Dublin West by-election candidate Cllr David McGuinness.
McGuinness was speaking to Pat Kenny on Newstalk’s Election Special to talk about early tallies which showed a close contest between Sinn Féin's Paul Donnelly and Socialist Party candidate Ruth Coppinger.
McGuinness assured the panel in studio that he is confident of a good performance and that transfer votes will be key.
And which point, Mattie McGrath TD piped in to say, “Best of luck David and, pardon the pun, if you get the leftovers you’ll be on the ball.”
