An Irishman has died in hospital in Australia from wounds sustained in a stabbing attack.

21-year-old Kenny Meyler was stabbed in the neck last weekend at a house in the coastal suburb of Scarborough in Perth.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is currently providing consular assistance to his mother and two other relatives who arrived in Perth last Tuesday. 

A 32-year-old local man has been charged over the stabbing of Mr Meyler.
