Irish Water says it has been forced to delete the online accounts of 700 of its customers.

It says a technical issue with the company's website meant those affected could not access their details.

However the State utility says the problem has not affected its customer database and that anyone affected has been notified.

Irish Water is apologising for any inconvenience caused.
