An Irish man has drowned off the coast of Portugal.
The 69-year-old died at Peneco Beach, one of Albufeira’s two beaches yesterday.
The Irish Independent reports he was pulled out of the water by a lifeboat just before 4pm in the afternoon, and was worked on by paramedics.

He was declared dead on the quayside.
A post-mortem is taking place today to determine if the drowning was due to a health problem.
