One of the top medical officers in the country says it is not surprising that forecasts predict Ireland will become the fattest country in Europe in 15 years time.
A new report from the World Health Organisation (WHO) says Ireland will be the most obese country in Europe by the year 2030.
It says Irish women could become the worst offenders, with 57% forecast to be obese by that time, compared to 48% of men.
The findings are being presented to the European Congress on Obesity.
