A forensic examination is set to be carried out at the scene of a fatal house fire in Longford.

A man in his 80s lost his life in the fire at Ballinalee.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8pm last night.

A post mortem on the man's remains is expected to be carried out today.

At this stage there is nothing to suggest the fire started suspiciously.
