The National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) has contacted Gardaí and the Data Protection Commissioner over an alleged breach of confidential data.
The matter centres on the purchase of a NAMA property by a then-employee of the agency.
An investigation carried out by Deloitte on behalf of NAMA found that the purchase was a breach of its procedures.
This is because the former employee did not disclose the transaction to the body.
During the course of the investigation NAMA became aware that confidential data may have been taken by the former employee.
As a result NAMA was granted court permission to search the residence of the employee and retrieve data from the computer of the defendant.
The matter has now been brought before the Commercial Court.
