An investigation is underway after a pipe bomb was found outside a house in Brownstown in Co Kildare last night.
The army bomb disposal team was called to the scene just before 11pm, where they discovered a viable improvised explosive device.
A cordon and road closures were put in place and a number of houses had to be evacuated.

The device was made safe without the need for a controlled explosion and it was taken away for further examination.
The scene was declared safe just after midnight.
All items have been handed over to the gardaí to assist them with their investigation.
