Gardai in Donegal are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in Bundoran earlier today.

The body is believed to be that of a man aged in his 60s or 70s.

It was found washed up near the shore at the cliff path in the west end of the town shortly after 10am this morning.

The body has been removed from the scene and taken to Sligo Regional Hospital.

A post mortem examination is due to take place.
