An inquest has opened at Dublin Coroners Court into the death of a Nigerian woman at the Rotunda Hospital 3 years ago. Bimbo Onanuga was 13 weeks pregnant when she died following a rupture in her uterus.
The inquest heard she was an otherwise healthy 32-year-old who died following an unusual rupture in her uterus. She was 30 weeks pregnant when her unborn baby died and she was admitted to the Rotunda.
A caesarian section was carried out and Ms Onanunga suffered a cardiac arrest. She later died after being transferred to the Mater Hospital.
A large group of friends and supporters are attending the inquest.
Lawyers for Miss Onanuga complained today that the midwife who had treated her and another key medic are not present for the inquest. They have also alleged the medical records are not in sequence.
Lucy Peppra from South Dublin County Partnership says they are looking for answers.
