Inquests into the deaths of three brothers in Charleville last September has heard that the twin boys died after being stabbed over 40 times each, and their older brother died by suicide.

21-year-old Jonathan O'Driscoll stabbed his 9-year-old twin brothers Thomas and Patrick at their home in Deerpark, Charleville.

He took his own life a short time later in nearby Buttevant.

The deputy State Pathologist, Dr Michael Curtis, has concluded that the cause of death for both twins was multiple stab wounds.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has indicated that no prosecution will be made in relation to the case.

Speaking to Newstalk Lunchtime last year, their mother Helen O'Driscoll commented: "There's a lot of mental issues out there and a lot of suicide".

"He surely had to have told those doctors how he felt{sic}".

"A parent is the last person to find out anything. Jonathan would have up days and down days and when I asked him to go up to the doctor, he would".

"I do think that no matter what age they are, if I ring the parents and tell them...I would have been prepared. I would have kept an eye on Jonathan".

"I wouldn't have given him that responsibility to pick up the children".

Ralph Riegel of the Irish Independent spoke to Newstalk Lunchtime about the inquest.

Speaking outside the courthouse today, Helen O'Driscoll appealed to anyone with mental health issues to seek help.
