Reforms to the junior cycle announced by Education Minister Ruairi Quinn include optional courses in computer programming and digital literacy.
Several school teachers will lend their expertise today, as it's hoped this textbook will become a resource for continuous professional development.
Open Knowledge Foundation Ireland is behind this new technique for rapidly developing learning resources.
Co-founder Flor Fleischer says the book will be available for free download.
