The Government is being accused of compromising patient care by cutting jobs in the health sector.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, 804 nursing and midwifery posts were axed in the first 10 months of 2013.
The union also claims that almost three-quarters of those jobs were in frontline services.

Liam Doran, General Secretary of INMO, says "even in these times the Government has choices. It has exercised wrong decisions for the last five years. It has to change those decisions and protect the frontline".
