Nurses and midwives will hold lunchtime protests across the country today against an increase in fees.
Members of the INMO, SIPTU and the Psychiatric Nurses Association say no services will be affected by the demonstrations.
They will take place in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Drogheda.
Nurses have called for the proposed hike to the annual retention fee to be scrapped.
The dispute centres around the decision by the Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBI) to increase the annual retention fee by 50% to €150. Nurses must be registered with the NMBI in order to practice.
The board says the increase is needed to ensure it can continue to fulfill its role as a statutory regulator.
But nurses say they have been targeted by the NMBI with letters - telling them they will not be allowed to work if they do not register.
INMO general-secretary, Liam Doran, says his members will not be intimidated.
