Today's news that a young man drowned in a Roscommon lake yesterday brings the number of drownings this week to four.

More and more people are drowning in Irish waters every year. Irish Water Safety report that 147 people drowned in 2012, 19 more than in 2011. There were just 15 more road deaths than drownings in Ireland last year.
