Independent TDs have taken umbrage with the Fine Gael party for their apparent arrogance.

The criticisms follow a report in the Sunday Independent which claims that non-party affiliated politicians have issued demands costing up to €13bn requesting for Fine Gael to tackle local issues in exchange for their support of a Fine Gael led minority Government.

According to the report, details of the expensive demands include proposed projects for new motorways, railway lines and the reopening of old mental health institutions.

It is believed that the price of the Independents' allegiance, has prompted Fine Gael to revert to the Labour Party, to support their plans to lead the next Government.

Tipperary's Mattie McGrath denies the allegations made in the report in the newspaper and says the claims are mean spirited:

"I'd take an issue with an arrogant Government that are unelected at the moment and to think that they might try to demonise and put down Independents as being the delay because they were too expensive to deal with. Our issues being the parochial and 'parish pump,' I certainly and many of my Independent colleagues haven't looked for anything other than an stable Government.
