The IMO has voted to hold a ballot on whether an independent review of the union's operation should go ahead.

The retrospective review vote is one of the most contentious issues at this weekend's conference in Co Kildare.

Members have been locked in a room for several hours debating the matter - and whether former CEO George McNeice should have his 10 million euro pension investigated.
