Today is Older People's Day and in the pages of the papers advice to younger people, including these gems:

The Irish Times has as its front page story "Report calls for major changes in maternity services", that story based on a report from a UK expert written in the wake of baby deaths here.

"Penalty point drivers escape conviction" - Carl O'Brien's story about how people have been falling through the holes in the system.

The Examiner has "Council urged to pay €4 million to repair fire trap".

Staying with that paper, "Coalition party leaders fail to quell talk of snap election - Taoiseach insists talk of early election needs to stop".

Out of that story, Ivan Yates said he was happy to take Enda Kenny up on his offer of a wager on an early election.

"I'll give him an even monkey that the election will be held in November" former bookie Yates offered.

The Mirror goes with "€5 a day slaves in Kilkenny."

The Farmer's Journal has "GLAS payments to fall" - the second round of the environmental payments are to fall.

Finally, in The Star, the stirring news that James Bond will order a dry martini with a twist of lemon, rather than the traditional martini in the new Spectre film.
