Meatballs sold in IKEA stores in Ireland and various other countries have been withdrawn after horse meat was found in some batches in the Czech Republic.
It affects one-kilogram frozen packs which were labelled as containing beef and pork.
It is not clear if meatballs sold in their restaurants are affected.
In a statement, the company said "We are now initiating further tests on the same production batch in which the Czech Republic authorities found indications of horsemeat".
Awaiting further test results
"We are expecting test results in the coming days and will then be able to give more information".
"IKEA has immediately issued a sales stop of the batch where indications of horsemeat were identified in Czech Republic and other concerned countries (Slovakia/Czech Republic/Hungary, France, UK, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Ireland)" it added.
It comes as Ministers meet in Brussels to try and come to a consensus on the horse meat scandal.
Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney says we need to get to grips with the extent of the mislabeling problem across Europe before we decide on the next course of action.
