Jules Thomas has denied telling gardai that an emotional Ian Bailey sobbed 'I did it, I went too far' while discussing the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

She also told the High Court she felt under enormous pressure to sign a statement following her arrest because gardaí 'weren't going to take no for an answer'.

Jules Thomas claims she was put under enormous pressure by gardai to sign a statement after she was arrested in the year 2000.

The 65 year old disputes some of the contents in her statement which in part relates to New Year's Eve 1998 when a couple Rosie and Ritchie Shelley came back to their house in Schull for drinks.

It records that Ian Bailey broke down in tears and said 'I did it, I went too far' while discussing the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

Under cross examination Jules Thomas said Ian Bailey was in fact talking about the rumour he was responsible for the killing and the bit about going too far related to his history of domestic violence.

She said the Shelleys changed plans to stay the night and called a relative for a lift at 4am - not because they were upset – but because they were unhappy with the sleeping arrangements.
