Brad Pitt who plays a battle–weary tank commander in the new World War Two film Fury says the prospect of one of his children going to war would have him turning to God.

The 50 year old actor commands a tank of four other allied soldiers in the new David Ayer film, played by Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal and Logan Lerman.

The film is set in Nazi Germany during the last few months of the Second World War.

Speaking to The Green Room, Pitt said if one of his sons was called to serve his country, he would start to pray.

“I would worry as a father; I would make sure he was trained as best he could be …

and I think I would start praying.”

Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie found themselves researching similar projects when their film schedules collided. Jolie’s new movie Unbroken is also set during the Second World War and according to Pitt is a very beautiful film.

“We don’t normally work at the same time, we just got our schedules all cocked- up. But it was nice. I was studying tanks, she was studying bombers…it was good fun for us.”

“Where we deal with the psychic damage of the soldier, her film focuses on the triumph of the human spirit against horrific odds. It’s a very uplifting film. Very beautiful.”
