A teenager from Afghanistan who was subjected to an alleged racist attack in Dublin last week says he is afraid to go to school after the incident.

Brothers Fazal and Naqib Ahmadzai, and their 13-year-old nephew Abdul, were knocked unconscious in the attack in Rathfarnham on Thursday as they cycled home from Marley Park.

Gardaí have confirmed they are investigating the incident, which was first reported by the Irish Times.

Around 100 people attended rally in support of the family and against racism in south Dublin last night.

Abdul thinks those responsible may have carried out a previous attack.

"They came out from a car and, straight away, no question, just straight to punches in the face," he explained.

He added that "when the gardaí arrest these people, then I will be happy. I don't think that was their first time - I think they did it to someone else".
